Welcome to AHAR

Indian Hotel & Restaurant Association was started by a group of hoteliers to safe guard their interest and unite the hoteliers under one umbrella for mutual benefit in 1979. Shri Datta Kadam was the first president of the Association.

The Association began in a small rented place at worli, subsequently shifted to Shivaji Park, Dadar.

In 2005 the Association is shifted to its own premise at Shreeram Industrial Estate, G.D.Ambekar Marg,Wadala. The strength of the membership is growing year by year and at present, it is more than 8000 hoteliers in Greater Mumbai and an equal number of sister associations, affiliates, and other associations through out the country. Our members includes small hotel to medium, large to 3 star hotels.

Our Objective is to bring all the small, medium, large eateries and hotels under one platform,we fight for their rights and against injustice, we make them aware the basic rules and regulation, update and assist them to run their business smoothly.

SHRI SUDHAKAR THIMMAYA SHETTY

President of AHAR.

Dear Members,

The members of AHAR have recently and unanimously elected SHRI SUDHAKAR THIMMAYA SHETTY as the new President of the association. Deeply honored by the trust placed in him, Shri Sudhakar Shetty extends his heartfelt gratitude to all members, office bearers, advisors, and subcommittee members for electing him to lead this prestigious organization.

In his acceptance, he emphasized the importance of strong connections with all members to foster unity and collaboration. Shri Sudhakar Shetty highlights digital connectivity as an essential tool for engaging members regularly and strengthening communication across the association.

Shri Sudhakar Shetty’s leadership vision is guided by the four key pillars, aptly named ‘PEGS’:

  • PROTECT: Advocate for members by addressing and resolving redundant rules and regulations that hinder progress.
  • EMPOWER: Guide and encourage members to comply with all legal requirements, ensuring ethical and diligent operations.
  • GROWTH: Support members in modernizing and expanding their businesses through the adoption of cutting-edge technology, enabling exponential growth.
  • SERVICE: Provide timely and efficient support to meet the diverse needs of the association’s members.

Membership remains a core strength of AHAR, and Shri Sudhakar Shetty is committed to increasing the association’s membership base to make it even stronger. By doing so, he aims to build a solid foundation for AHAR’s future.

He is also determined to continue focusing on Vision 2030, an initiative started by the immediate past president, Shri Sukesh Shetty. Shri Sudhakar Shetty is dedicated to taking this initiative forward with the confidence and support of all stakeholders, including the state government, municipal corporations, and businesses across the hospitality sector and its ancillary industries.

Recognizing the importance of collective wisdom, Shri Sudhakar Shetty seeks guidance from all senior members and advisors to uphold and carry forward the great legacy of AHAR.

In his new role, Shri Sudhakar Shetty has already begun taking proactive steps to fulfill his responsibilities. He has planned strategic meetings to address pressing issues and advance AHAR’s mission of serving its members effectively.

Working of AHAR

AHAR have 10 Zones spread over the Greater Mumbai. Each Zone is headed by a Vice President. The Managing Committee is elected in a democratic way every year through an election process.

The office bearer includes the Presidents, 10 Vice Presidents Hon. Gen. Secretary, Hon. Jt Secretary, Hon Treasurer and Hon Jt Treasurer. The Ex Presidents are the advisors to the Association providing their valuable guidance whenever required.

AHAR is having 11 sub committees like Police, Excise, MCGM, Media, Promotion, Membership drive etc. Each committee is headed by an expert member of the subject. The Ex officials of various departments were also enrolled in the penal for their guidance/suggestions etc in various matters.

Our Future Projects

To guide any new entrepreneur wish to set up hotel and restaurants in every matters pertaining to various authorities both local and State.
To impart the knowledge of hygienic awareness to all the employees as well as the hotel owners in their establishments
To conduct the seminars in various aspects of hotel industry for proper understanding and awareness of the present day scenario this will equip them to meet the challenges ahead rather than remaining stagnant.

To unite and fight against any injustice meted on hotel industry by various departments.
To guide any new entrepreneur wish to set up hotel and restaurants in every matters pertaining to various authorities both local and State.
To arrange for Food festivals, food carnivals etc to attract the tourists to this mega city.
To sponsor the higher education of the employee's children’s, who can not afford it and to make them stand on their own.
To always guide make awareness to the members to work within the laid down framework of law so that they can always be on the right side of the law.
To train the unskilled, less educated people of villages, far off areas in various aspects of hotel industry irrespective of Religion, Caste, Creed and provide them with certificates through the State Government-sponsored programs or through Vocational Training Centre, A Government of India Project so that they can earn their livelihood through employment in this fast-growing hospitality.
To obtain a plot from Government of Maharashtra to start a training centre to impart the training in various aspects of hospitality industry like cooking, managing, supervision, hygienic awareness, customer service, house keeping servicing etc to the persons having minimum education irrespective of religion, caste and creed and award them with certificates duly recognized by the Government of Maharashtra courses or Vocational training courses, a government of India project. This will equip the trainees to obtain the job in this fast growing hospitality industry and earn their livelihood easily. It even equip them to start their own small ventures in their own home town / city rather than rushing to the City and make them self reliant.
