The Association began in a small rented place at worli, subsequently shifted to Shivaji Park, Dadar.
In 2005 the Association is shifted to its own premise at Shreeram Industrial Estate, G.D.Ambekar Marg,Wadala. The strength of the membership is growing year by year and at present, it is more than 8000 hoteliers in Greater Mumbai and an equal number of sister associations, affiliates, and other associations through out the country. Our members includes small hotel to medium, large to 3 star hotels.

Our Objective is to bring all the small, medium, large eateries and hotels under one platform,we fight for their rights and against injustice, we make them aware the basic rules and regulation, update and assist them to run their business smoothly.

Indian Hotel & Restaurant Association was started by a group of hoteliers to safe guard their interest and unite the hoteliers

Largest Association of Hotel & Restaurant owners in India with affiliations through out Maharashtra and having a membership of 8000 Hotel & Restaurant owners.

Dear Members,
The members of AHAR have unanimously elected Shri Vijay K. Shetty as the new President of the association. Expressing his deep gratitude, Shri Vijay K. Shetty sincerely thanks all members, office bearers, advisors, and subcommittee members for placing their confidence in his leadership.
In his acceptance message, Shri Vijay K. Shetty reaffirmed his commitment to building a strong, transparent, and united association. He emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue, mutual respect, and digital engagement to ensure every member remains informed, connected, and empowered.
Shri Vijay K. Shetty’s leadership vision is driven by four guiding principles, collectively termed ‘RISE’:
- REFORM: Work proactively to simplify policies, address regulatory challenges, and protect members’ business interests.
- INNOVATE: Encourage adoption of modern practices, technology, and sustainable solutions across the hospitality sector.
- STRENGTHEN: Build stronger member relationships through collaboration, training, and knowledge-sharing platforms.
- ENABLE: Ensure timely support, guidance, and representation for every member of AHAR.

Membership growth remains a key priority under his leadership. Shri Vijay K. Shetty believes that a larger, more inclusive membership base will further enhance AHAR’s influence, credibility, and collective strength.
He also expressed his firm commitment to carrying forward Vision 2030, ensuring continuity, stability, and progressive development for the association. With active cooperation from government authorities, municipal bodies, and industry partners, he aims to transform this vision into measurable outcomes for the hospitality ecosystem.
Acknowledging the invaluable contribution of past leaders, Shri Vijay K. Shetty seeks continuous guidance from senior members and advisors to preserve AHAR’s proud legacy while steering it toward a future of innovation and excellence.
As he assumes office, Shri Vijay K. Shetty has already initiated strategic discussions to address key industry concerns and chart a clear roadmap for the association’s growth and service-oriented mission.
With unity, commitment, and collective effort, he looks forward to leading AHAR toward a stronger, more resilient, and future-ready horizon.
Working of AHAR
AHAR have 10 Zones spread over the Greater Mumbai. Each Zone is headed by a Vice President. The Managing Committee is elected in a democratic way every year through an election process.
The office bearer includes the Presidents, 10 Vice Presidents Hon. Gen. Secretary, Hon. Jt Secretary, Hon Treasurer and Hon Jt Treasurer. The Ex Presidents are the advisors to the Association providing their valuable guidance whenever required.
AHAR is having 11 sub committees like Police, Excise, MCGM, Media, Promotion, Membership drive etc. Each committee is headed by an expert member of the subject. The Ex officials of various departments were also enrolled in the penal for their guidance/suggestions etc in various matters.
